As our Senior Risk & Control Manager you ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards

What will you be doing

⦁   Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the Risk and Control Management framework for the Consumer Bank Europe Front Office to ensure compliance with all Conduct and Reputation policies/standards and regulatory requirements

⦁   Support the Head of Risk & Control to drive a strong Risk & Control culture across the Consumer Bank Europe

⦁   Provide operational risk expertise and guidance to commercial teams as Product Management, Sales, Customer Experience in effectively managing material risks under the key risk of conduct

⦁   Support interaction with BIA colleagues on audit plans, ensuring these are communicated effectively across impacted areas and acting as a key point of contact and valuable review step within the audit process for timely escalation of significant issues affecting the control environment.

⦁   Resolve issues relating to Group Risk Management policies and implement metrics designed to ensure adherence to good risk practice

⦁   Lead root cause analysis of control failures, incidents and complaints over risk appetite, identifies control gaps and coordinates appropriate remedial actions

⦁   Analyse and respond to audit and regulatory examination findings

⦁   Being an innovator by continuously adopt to future requirements and relentlessly simplify the control framework while maintaining and improving the level of protection for the business

⦁   Working with the Business Unit Control Office, other risk functions, business leads and other stakeholders to create a culture of strong operational risk management.

⦁   Ensure that the respective department complies fully with all governance and compliance issues, particularly in relation to customers, policy and complaints procedures


What we're looking for

⦁   Relevant experience within a highly regulated environment along with a deep understanding of the control, regulatory and risk issues in Operational Risk, within the Banking Sector. Knowledge of Retail Banking Products is preferred

⦁   Clear understanding of effective governance processes

⦁   Ability to analyse business processes and create insight of deriving business and regulatory risks

⦁   In-depth knowledge of risk management and measurement and strong ability to translate those into an effective control framework that satisfies both internal and regulatory requirements

⦁   Practical Risk Management experience and a good understanding of Risk frameworks and techniques (KRIs, Risk Events, Lessons Learnt)

⦁   Detailed and comprehensive understanding of the risk framework with specific focus on Commercial and Conduct risks, such as Data privacy, Conflicts of Interest, Customer Engagement

⦁   Professional conceptual and innovative thinking to develop solutions and to ensure risk and regulatory requirements go hand in hand with delivering ambitious growth targets.

⦁   Strong project management skills, preferably from an environment of delivering regulatory projects

⦁   Strong analytical, decision making and investigatory skills

⦁   Problem solving and high level of attention to detail

⦁   Proven capability to operate across a wide remit

⦁   Strong Communication and Influencing skills
